Background
Heat pollution, rising carbon dioxide levels, and the intensifying greenhouse effect caused by fossil-fuel systems have inflicted serious damage on the global environment. These critical issues now demand immediate action.
Developing and adopting non-polluting, green energy sources has become essential for mitigating these environmental crises and ensuring a sustainable future.
Introduction
Founded in 2004 alongside the National University of Tainan, the Department of Environment & Energy was the first department in Taiwan to integrate global environmental protection, sustainable government policy, and green energy development as our core teaching goals. We aim to cultivate students' foundational knowledge of environmental science and equip them with the professional skills to research, design, and implement green energy solutions.
Our curriculum is purposefully designed to address the pressing challenges of global environmental change and the need for clean energy development. With growing concerns over the harmful effects of fossil fuels, our program emphasizes both environmental awareness and innovative, practical approaches to sustainable energy solutions.
Goal of Establishment
Our department aims to foster sustainable development through the following objectives:
1. Balancing Technology and Environment: Address the conflict between human development and technology by promoting environmental protection, green design, and sustainable policies in Taiwan.
2. Global Green Trends: Advocate for the business of green electricity and green consumption to align with international trends.
3. National Industry Development: Support the evolving needs of national industries in line with our school’s mid- and long-term plans.
4. Research and Professional Development: Enhance Taiwan’s green industry research and cultivate local green design professionals.
5. Sustainable Awareness: Promote widespread understanding of green energy and sustainable management to improve quality of life.
